Mattiazzi, Milan 2013

The design of all Mattiazzi presentations and fair stands come as integral part of the duality between straight forward design work and the art direction work I do for Mattiazzi.

It is always a fine work of simplifying complexities and maximizing the possibilities within a very tight work-frame of both time and money.

Together with Florian Lambl, my partner in the Mattiazzi art direction, we have been working for years in developing the Mattiazzi identity as well as the whole product line.
The fair stands are as such, are the three dimensional spatial representations of that identity.

SOLO is more of a character, a bit hard but very round, very simple but also intricate, practical and pragmatic but offering a great deal. It’s a café chair, a bar stool that makes no fuss about what it does, a character that says, plainly: “Have a seat,” and one happily complies. >>>

Studio Nitzan Cohen

The designer in our modern consumer-based society is sometimes mistakenly seen as the one who has to feed the system. Keep it going by inventing and reinventing, shaping and reshaping, making new things for the sake of being new… Whereas questioning all that seems at times out of the question.

We try to question, to look for questions that are interesting enough to answer. It is as part of looking at design as methodical process. It is a way of working and of a way to look at things.

Established in 2007, Studio Nitzan Cohen is a multi disciplinary design studio with projects ranging from industrial products, furniture and spaces to art-direction and strategic consultancy.

After many years as a designer and a project leader at Konstantin Grcic Industrial design, and earlier graduating from the design academy in Eindhoven; Nitzan Cohen and his studio are busy combining a research oriented attitude with conceptual design and the ability to translate it into a new visual language, objects and spaces.

Nitzan cohen was a guest professor at the state academy in Stuttgart (Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart) where he is currently a lecturer for design methodology.

Amongst the studio clients are: BMW-Group, Bree, Designafairs, Diesel, Mattiazzi, Messe München, Nanoo by Faserplast, Nykke&Kokkie, SAF-TheLifeCo, Stylepark, Thomas/Rosenthal.
